MY QUESTION IS THIS!
Why when I drive down the highway, even in the nicest parts of town, do I see unemployed, undereducated, and homeless people, yet when I call for customer service on an American made product, I am usually routed to a person in India, Iran, or Mexico? Are our American men and women not willing or not offered these positions and why? If these people had jobs and where able to contribute to society not only would america look cleaner, but our economy would be strengthened. I am not a wise man, but if we give all our money away to other countries, how are we going to have any left for us after while?
Please let me know what you think?

Maybe the Social Welfare is making people lazy!!!
I can tell you. It is because it costs way too much to do business in the US. Taxes, Minimum Wage, benefits costs it all add up to unemployment when jobs can be wholesale shipped to India and Russia.

Well... I am sure in some ways it is cheaper and the businessman's choice to outsource jobs. But most of those jobs would be minimum wage here, and the truth is(If New Orleans is any indication...) Americans who would be doing those jobs would rather be on welfare. Same for foriegn workers coming here. They aren't taking jobs away, they're just willing to work.
While there is no denying that some people are homeless or on welfare by choice, I refuse to believe that the vast majority of those in such a plight are there through laziness. This is a classic conservative tactic of blaming the victim.
And to Rebekkah, I take great umbrage at your suggestion that the poor in New Orleans somehow deserved what happened to them. Has tragedy never struck your life?
It is worth mentioning that under the Bush Administration the government is subsidizing those corporations which wish to move overseas with tax incentives. We are spending American tax dollars to ship our jobs overseas.

I think "outsourcing" is just one more way corporations can make a buck. I think many Americans are lazy and think they deserve more than just minimum wage. You have to start somewhere. I listen to talk radio all the time and heard this 23 year old woman with a ridiculous sense of entitlement who was extremely angry because she had been in management and was only paid $10/hr. I don't feel like all Americans feel this way but I think I agree with Rebekah in that I think foreigners are just more willing to do things some Americans won't or don't want to. Also, I don't feel like she was taking a cheap shot at New Orleans. They didn't "get what was coming to them." They were just in a very unfortunate situation. It's very sad for them all.
